TERM bank, University of Southern Denmark (SDU)

TERMbank SDU is a term bank developed in the programme TERMplus 4.0 at the University of Southern Denmark in Kolding.

Interested parties with guest status may have access to make searches by contacting the term bank administrator, Susanne Lervad, sltermplus.dk.

The purposes of the term bank are:

  • to build up a useful tool for both students and staff at SDU – and in the long term also for external users.
  • continously to enter terminological data covering relevant subjects seen in relation to courses taught at SDU.
  • to serve as a joint project between lecturers and researchers at SDU.
  • to store knowledge about methods of building up and maintaining multilingual, internal terminology banks in enterprises.
TERMbank SDU, only to be seen as a tranlation database, is rather new. That is why the number of terms is still rather limited. Early 2004, it contains concepts from
  • technology (Danish-English – almost all terms without definitions)
  • finance
  • law.
The majority of terms are Danish-English. The base is shown as a bilingual database in which the user can choose language pairs freely from the languages in the base: English, French, Spanish, Danish and German.
